Gender Punks

Kuku Schrapnell / German / 2026 / 136 Pages

In Gender Punks, Kuku Schrapnell brings to life the stories of trans and intersex individuals from the 17th to the 20th century. The book confronts fundamental questions: What is gender? And how can we make the world a fairer, more just place? Set against the backdrop of patriarchy and capitalism, it reveals acts of resistance that ripple through history—first personal, then collective. Unearthing lives from court and medical records, Kuku retells them with care, solidarity, and compassion.
