Doxumentale in Belgrad & Srebrenica

As part of this ongoing partnership, two films from the Doxumentale – International Documentary and Media Festival Berlin, organized by The Good Media Network, will be presented in Belgrade and Srebrenica. United by a shared commitment to curatorial dialogue, we come together in three public screenings that create space for dialogue, cultural exchange, and shared reflection through non-fiction storytelling.

On 14 and 17 July, Dorćol Platz—a vibrant cultural space in Belgrade—will host screenings of both Ouvidor (in attendance of the director Matias Borgström)  and Where Dragons Live (in attendance of the two protagonists Harriet & Matthew), in collaboration with the Veselin Simonović Foundation and the Beldocs International Documentary Festival. These events mark a continuation of a deepening relationship: over the past two years, Beldocs has supported Doxumentale’s curation by recommending outstanding films from the region, while the Simonović Foundation contributed a powerful photo exhibition and public talk on the Serbian protest movement to the 2025 edition of Doxumentale. The talk, titled “Light”, was widely resonant with Berlin audiences and will be available for streaming in July.

On July 16, the Silver Frame Film Festival in Srebrenica will screen Where Dragons Live (in attendance of the two protagonists Harriet & Matthew). For the second year in a row, Doxumentale’s artistic director Anna Ramskogler-Witt has been invited as an honorary selector, curating one international feature documentary for the festival’s official program. A competitive international event, Silver Frame Film Festival presents a carefully curated selection of feature and short films, chosen by programmers with experience at major festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Sarajevo, and Sundance. In February Silver Frame Festival presented a selection of short films as part of the Doxumentale’s Living Frame Short Film Showcase during Berlinale. 

This exchange is supported by the Berlin Senatskanzlei through the European Film Network Fonds, underscoring a shared belief in long-term, sustainable collaboration across borders.

In diesem Sommer setzt The Good Media Network seine Zusammenarbeit mit drei bemerkenswerten Partnern fort: dem Beldocs Festival, dem Silver Frame Film Festival und der Veselin-Simonović-Stiftung.

Im Rahmen dieser Kooperation werden zwei Filme der Doxumentale – Internationalen Dokumentarfilm- und Medienfestivals Berlin – in Belgrad und Srebrenica gezeigt. Drei öffentliche Screenings laden ein zum Austausch – über Bilder, Perspektiven und das, was Dokumentarfilme sichtbar machen: Realität und Möglichkeit zugleich.

Am 14. und 17. Juli sind Ouvidor (mit Regisseur Matias Borgström) und Where Dragons Live (mit den Protagonist*innen Harriet und Matthew) im Dorćol Platz in Belgrad zu sehen – einem urbanen Ort zwischen Veranstaltungsort, Ausstellungshalle und Bar. Die Veranstaltungen entstehen in Zusammenarbeit mit der Veselin-Simonović-Stiftung und dem Beldocs | International Documentary Film Festival – beides Partner der ersten Stunde. Beldocs hat die kuratorische Arbeit der Doxumentale von Beginn an mit Filmtipps aus der Region begleitet; die Simonović-Stiftung war 2025 mit einer Fotoausstellung und dem viel beachteten Talk „Light“ zur serbischen Protestbewegung vertreten. Der Talk wird ab Juli im Stream verfügbar sein.

Am 16. Juli läuft Where Dragons Live beim Silver Frame Film Festival in Srebrenica, ebenfalls in Anwesenheit der beiden Protagonist*innen. Doxumentale-Festivalleiterin Anna Ramskogler-Witt ist zum zweiten Mal als Ehren-Kuratorin eingeladen und wählt einen internationalen Langfilm für das offizielle Programm aus. Silver Frame gilt als aufstrebendes Festival mit hohem Anspruch – das Auswahlkomitee bringt Erfahrung von Cannes, Venedig, Berlin, Sarajevo und Sundance mit. Bereits im Februar zeigte Silver Frame beim Doxumentale-Programm Living Frame eine Auswahl internationaler Kurzfilme im Rahmen der Berlinale.

Gefördert wird der Austausch von der Berliner Senatskanzlei über den European Film Network Fonds – mit dem Ziel, europäische Filmkultur langfristig grenzüberschreitend zu vernetzen.
