Day Trip: Escaping the Taliban

Roni Aboulafia / Israel, Canada / 2025 / 75 min

August 2021: With the withdrawal of international troops, the Taliban seizes power in Afghanistan and imposes Sharia law. Women who had once stood for education and progress suddenly find themselves in mortal danger. Four of them—a judge, a policewoman, a singer, and a cyclist—try to flee or go into hiding. With the help of a foreign journalist, an improvised rescue network emerges, attempting to save lives as the world watches—or looks away.
