The Beauty of the Donkey

Dea Gjinovci / Switzerland, Kosovo, France, United States / 2025 / 76 min

Together with her father, the director embarks on a journey into the past. After more than sixty years in exile in Switzerland, Asllan and his daughter return to his home village in Kosovo, a place marked by war and loss. Amid familiar landscapes, encounters, and quiet moments, a poetic portrait of conflict, violence, and a hidden family history emerges, where memory and the present intertwine. The film blends documentary reality with striking visuals and carefully staged scenes that bring Asllan's childhood memories from the 1950s to life.
