Trade Secret

Abraham Joffe / Australia, United Kingdom / 2025 / 98 min

Polar bears have become a symbol of the fragile Arctic—and of a trade that largely unfolds out of sight. Over six years, the film follows three unlikely allies as they investigate the issue across the globe. Their trail leads them to a system of legalized trophy hunting, where the skins and heads of killed animals are traded as collectors’ items. The deeper they dig, the more complex the picture becomes: conservation, politics, and economic interests are tightly intertwined. In the end, a troubling question emerges: could those meant to protect these animals be part of the problem?
