Festival Director Anna Ramskogler-Witt looks back on Doxumentale 2026, reflecting on the stories, conversations, and shared moments that shaped this year's festival. From unforgettable screenings and audience discussions to books, podcasts, and immersive experiences, the festival once again celebrated the many forms of documentary storytelling while bringing people together across Berlin.
Warm summer nights. Full cinemas. Inspiring stories. And conversations that continued long after the credits rolled.
Looking back at this year's Doxumentale, I am filled with gratitude. Once again, Berlin became a place where documentary storytelling brought people together across film, books, podcasts, immersive experiences and live encounters. What stayed with me most was not only what happened on screen, but everything that happened around it.
There are far too many highlights to name them all. The deeply emotional preview of Dear Fatima. The moving conversations around Women of Sin. The powerful presentation of To Dance is to Resist at Kater Blau. The thoughtful audience discussions after screenings. The spontaneous exchanges on the rooftop terrace that stretched late into warm summer evenings. These are the moments that remind me why festivals matter.
I want to congratulate all of this year's award winners and every artist, filmmaker, author, podcaster and creator who shared their work with us. Thank you for your trust and for inviting us into your worlds.
My deepest thanks go to our incredible team and volunteers. Your commitment, creativity and generosity are the heart of Doxumentale, and none of this would be possible without you.
I am equally grateful to our partners, supporters and funders for believing in our vision and making this festival possible. And thank you to everyone who joined us. Your curiosity, openness and willingness to engage are what give Doxumentale its unique spirit.
I already look forward to the conversations we will continue next year.
