Hommage to Berlin

27 May, 2026, 6.30 PM @ Festival Centre: Atrium Tower

Event language: German, English

Where does a city's history end / and where does it begin again? Hommage to Berlin opens the 3rd Doxumentale on 27 May at Potsdamer Platz: a 60-minute programme of readings, film and music dedicated to the very place where it unfolds – one of the most restless stages in the city's history.

Author and actress Barbara Sotelsek takes the audience on an audiovisual journey through the many faces and eras of a place that has reinvented itself time and again. Texts by Paul Boldt, Franz Kafka and Erich Kästner meet film sequences from Kurt Krigar's DIE AUSSICHT and Walter Ruttmann's SYMPHONY OF A CITY – from the bohemian Café Josty of the 1920s to the glass-and-steel present of the Atrium Tower.

An evening that does not begin with a screen, but with a city. And with the question of what it means to be here. Then and now.
