Sustainable filmmaking is becoming increasingly important, but how can it be integrated into everyday production work? This session explores practical approaches to green production and shares concrete tools, strategies, and workflows for different stages of the filmmaking process. Drawing on real-world examples and collective discussion, participants are invited to reflect on their own methods, exchange experiences, and consider how more sustainable and responsible practices can be implemented in their projects while sharing soup* and conversation.

Donald Houwer

Donald Houwer is Chair of Green Consultants Germany (BVGCD) and works as a director, writer, producer, and lecturer. He founded the environmental film festival “Green Me” during the Berlinale and the platform “Betterstream” for sustainable films and podcasts. He co-organized “Storytelling for Future” (BMBF, 2023) and the “Green Filmmaking Workshop” in Turkey (2024). He also contributed to panels in Cannes and served as a jury member for the Green Horizon Award in 2025.
