A moving portrait of care, responsibility, and the search for stability in a fragile system.

The Family Approach (Im Prinzip Familie)

Five boys live in a rural group home because their parents are temporarily unable to care for them. The film follows the educators who provide them with stability, guidance, and a sense of home, revealing how much responsibility, patience, and care this takes.

Film Still_Im Osten was Neues_copyright Anke Riester

A moving story about second chances, responsibility, and the power to change.

Changing Sides (Im Osten was Neues)

Thomas ‘Eichi’ Eichstädt coaches the FC Pio in Torgelow, a small town in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The team is made up of young refugees grappling with their pasts and searching for acceptance. For many, Eichi is a father figure, but he carries the weight of his dark past as a former right-extremist. This gripping film is about making a fresh start as well as confronting one’s own history. Eichi proves that change is possible—for himself and for those who trust him.

A powerful story of memory and family history.

It Happenend on our Ground

Three generations of women grapple with their family's legacy of the Holocaust, its affiliation with the Nazi regime, and their resistance. "It Happened on Our Ground" is a sensitive exploration of guilt, memory, and the strength needed to heal.

A portrait of talent, injustice, and a lifelong love of music.

Mozart's Sister

Like her brother, Maria Anna Mozart was a gifted pianist. Although the two child prodigies travelled through Europe together until they were teenagers and performed for royalty, Maria Anna has remained in the shadow of her famous brother. Upon reaching marriageable age, her career came to an end, as it was not considered proper for a woman to play before an audience. From then on, her father concentrated solely on promoting her younger brother. But she never lost her love of music. It is now thought that she played a greater role in Wolfgang Amadeus’ music than previously assumed.

Filmstill "Sisterqueens"
Filmstill "Sisterqueens"

A story of friendship, identity, and finding your voice.

Sisterqueens

The three friends Jamila, Rachel, and Faseeha are part of Sisterqueens—a rap collective in the Berlin neighbourhood of Wedding. Guided by experienced female rappers, they find their own voices. Their lyrics address feminism, discrimination, and self-determination—issues that also shape their everyday lives. This film delves into their daily worlds over a period of three years. Amid rehearsals and early concerts, the friends challenge social norms and help each other to forge their own paths.

The rap project SISTERQUEENS is a project by Peira in collaboration with Haszcara, Alice Dee, Leila Ey, and various girls' centers.
