Live Gaming: The Berlin Apartment

06 Jun, 2026, 7.00 PM @ Filmrauschpalast Moabit

The Berlin Apartment brings a century of German history to life within the walls of a single apartment. Taking on the role of a craftsperson restoring its aging rooms, you will uncover traces left behind by former residents, finding love, loss, upheaval, and resilience. With every discovery, a new story unfolds with new characters, new atmospheres, and new moments in time. Meanwhile, the apartment itself remains unchanged, a silent witness at the center of a rapidly shifting world.

Additionally, in cooperation with the cinegaming collective GAMERAUSCH, we will screen selected passages of the game on the big screen. Together with film scholar Angela Jouini from Freie Universität Berlin, we will examine the diverse representations of Berlin's history in film and games, and enter into conversation with the developers of the game. The screening will be complemented by the short film DIE AUSSICHT (BRD 1966) by Kurt Krigar.

More about Gamerausch:

Gamerausch is a curatorial format at the intersection of cinema and game culture. Through regular events, it presents selected video games on the big screen and contextualizes them with conversations featuring guests from culture, academia, and game development. The format understands games as cultural works and creates a collective setting in which they can be experienced and discussed together.

In collaboration with partners such as A MAZE / Berlin, the Computerspielemuseum Berlin, and the film festival Doxumentale, it is part of a growing network connecting digital forms of storytelling with physical event formats. From 2025 to 2026, Gamerausch is part of the Incubation Programme of Futura Cinema.

More about Filmrauschpalast:

Filmrausch Moabit e.V. has operated the only cinema in Moabit since 1991, on the first floor of the Kulturfabrik. The programme has run without interruption since 1995, entirely sustained by volunteer commitment. The screening room features state-of-the-art Sony 4K projection; films are also regularly shown on 35mm and 16mm film stock.

The programme focuses on work beyond the mainstream: genre film, Asian cinema, and challenging, unconventional titles. At the same time, Filmrausch offers emerging filmmakers a platform to present their work and engage directly with audiences. Every summer, the courtyard between brick walls and railway tracks becomes an open-air cinema.
